Is New Home builder required to install MODIFIED BITUMENT on flat roof and valley | |
I live in a 6 yr. old house built by Kimball Hill and I have recently detected a leak in my roof.
I contacted a Roofing Co. and their technician has inspected my roof. He did a temporary repair to the nail leak. However, he tells me that this roof was improperly installed because there was no MODIFIED BITUMENT installed on the flat roof in the valley.
He is proposing to:
1. Tear off approx. one foot around the flat section.
2. Remove all shingles that were badly installed.
3. Install modified Bitumen roofing shingle torch down
4. Re-install new shingles around and over the new flat roof.
MY QUESTION IS WAS THIS BUILDER'S FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH BUILDING REQUIREMENTS SET BY STATE CITY OR OTHERWISE?????
