Which roof style, hip or gable is more hurricane resistance?

I would think the HIP roof is more stable. ( Date April 4, 2007)
I went to my Alstate Insurance agent's office today and they told me that in 2002 the state of Florida ( where I live) passed a law or agreement with the insurance companies to give home owners a discount on their homeowner's insurance if they met 3 requirements.
1. Copy of the building plans showing that the house had been build after 2002
2. Had working shutters
3. Had a HIP (PED) roof ( the porch and garage had some roofing gable requirements too, which I don't remember all of.....but I think the porch could have a Gable but the attached garage could not......but not sure.....you need to check.
However I think this shows some proof if the insurance company and the state will give a HIPPED roof a discount over another roof.........Don't you ?
