roof leak

I have a covered entry that I noticed the paint was peeling off in big patches. I noticed the sheetrock was wet... there is a standard roof with all the normal pitch and gutters are clean. The roof is composit and its the original roof and only 8 years old. I have looked at the roof and all seems fine. The metal flashing that is against building and lays on the roof had staples that were rusting, so I removed and put a rubber type roof cement to fill the holes. There is no way to gain access to see where water may be coming from uless I cut a hole in sheetrock and look. Could you maybe suggest some reasons that there is a leak and how I might find the leak. Its a duplex and both covered entrance areas are doing it yet no other areas look to be leaking. Thank you.
