Seriously thinking of replacing asphalt shingle roof with a new metal residential roof. I live in a northern climate zone would like some advice from metal roof owners especially ones who replaced an asphalt roof. Looking at advanages, disadvantages and cost difference - Is it Worth It?

1We just put one on our house. Ended p doing it ourselves because the contractors wanted a ridiculous amount. It cost us around $120 per square and we didn't remove the old shingles,but we laid 1x4 to screw the metal to and also put styo-foam insulation between the 1x4 to help with noise and also to give us more insulation. So far we love it, have had several large wind and rain storms and don't hear it anymore than on conventional roofs. Good luck
