cutting new soffit venting and keeping insulation from coming/slipping back out in existing holder home | |
we have a 1978 ranch home with gable roof 2000sq and medium size gable vents (one on each end)and no soffit vents previous owners only had two turbines installed.
we are having new asphalt dimension shingles put in with four turbines evenly spaced and keeping the gable vents. however we are also having soffit vents cut under the overhang for additional intake ventilation. (also having ventilated vinyl siding soffits installed over the vent openings).
we can't tell in the attic how far the insulation goes to the end joists things--don't know for sure if it batting insulation or blown down by the ends--it's hard to tell when we're up in the attic which is tight up there. what if the hole is cut and there is insulation in the opening? it can be pushed back when we cut the hole, but how do we keep the ventilation from falling back over the vent hole? is there something we can insert into the hole to keep it the insulatin propted up and keep the aire flow "open" from insulation? any information appreciated! vic
