Roof trusses form the framework on which your entire roof relies on. This is why it should not be erected without proper knowledge about roof trusses and their installing requirements neither should the installing be done in a hurry.
Roof trusses are usually built of wood and put together with special metal fasteners.
There are certain rules to follow to obtain a steady and reliable framework for your roof:
- use reliable and skilled workers to install your roof trusses;
- use correct tools and machinery and building equipment when installing your roof trusses;
- consult a special engineer or construction expert and show him the necessary documents and sketches before the construction;
- document all the procedures that are to be made and keep the documentation;
- always check that the trusses that are transported to you are free of flaws and defects;
- smaller trusses can be lifted by hand, however bigger and heavier ones will need mechanical assistance lifting up to the roof e.g. crane or other hoisting device;
- avoid overloading the trusses when they are not properly braced;
- use temporary bracing to help put the trusses in place for later attachment with permanent fasteners.
