There are two types of roofing tiles which are most commonly used – ceramic tiles and cement tiles. Ceramic tiles are made of fired clay.

Fired clay roofs have been used for centuries and are still used. They have proved to be very durable as well as good-looking – they can last for a hundred years if not more. Naturally every roof still needs proper maintenance to stay healthy and protective.

Roof tiles are installed by attaching them to the roof with nails or screws whereas every next tile is covering a part of the previous one to prevent rainwater and snow from getting through the tiles.

One of the advantages of cement and clay roof tiles is fire-safety – the material is strong and durable enough to keep fire away as opposed to wooden roofs.
